‘GRISELDA BLANCO’
2026
Next in my ongoing QUEENS series is Griselda Blanco, the Colombian drug queen, allegedly associated with the Medellín Cartel and a key figure in the cocaine trade between Colombia and Miami from the 1970s through the early 2000s.
Pablo Escobar reportedly said of her: “The only man I was ever afraid of was a woman named Griselda Blanco.”
Blanco was portrayed on screen by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sofía Vergara, and her life has been the subject of documentaries such as Cocaine Cowboys.
She has also been referenced by numerous rappers, including Lil' Kim, Meek Mill, Rick Ross, Pusha T, Young Thug, Nicki Minaj, and Quavo.
Westside Gunn even named his record label Griselda Records after her.
