Lhakpa Sherpa is a mountaineer who climbed Mount Everest eleven times, the most by any woman ever.

In 2000 she became the first Nepali woman to summit Mount Everest and survive, as part of the Nepali Women Millennium Expedition.

In 2016 she was listed on BBC’s list of 100 most influential and inspiring women.

In 2003 she had summited Mount Everest three times, the most for a woman, and in 2022 she beat her own and her late husband Gheorghe Dinarescu’s record, by successfully sumitting Everest a tenthtime. This tenth summit was documented by Lucy Walker in a Netflix documentary, Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa.

In the meantime she summited Everest for the eleventh time earlier this year.
