I was a fan of TIFF since I was a student in Cluj, 20 years ago, and I was so broke that I had to forge a badge to get in the festival.
So when I was invited together with 4 other Romanian illustrators to design a poster for this year’s anniversary edition I was super excited and decided to draw on my own experience and my passion for movies.
And I made this homage to young people who sneak into cinemas or steal books, outsiders and double-crossers. The illustration is a hand painted collage of references to iconic movies like Les 400 Coups, Pickpocket, Cinema Paradiso, Ladri di Biciclette, La Chimera, To Catch a Thief, Catch Me if You Can and Hugo.
Can’t wait to actually go to the festival with my girlfriend Eva and our dog Umi 😍️😍️
